- Optional route via Vehmersalmi; road ferry to Soisalo (biggest lake island) and ice road to Kuopio, if ice thick enough exsists
- Kuopio for shopping and nice market place & hall in the centre (parking under the central square)
- Taivalkoski: Jalavan Kauppa & pirttikahvila (Jalava Shop & home café) An old-timer shop, where you still feel the 19th century athmosphere. Old style shoes, clothes, fishing and hunting equipment... Café with fresh home-made pastries as well as food. - Drive xactly 7 km to "Anetjärvi" from the main road and you will see the red school buildings on right and a sign "Aneen loma".
