At start from Vehu we can take small "swamp roads" because we are not in a particular hurry, but do not destroy your car immediately. We will pay a visit to a local peat bog (for peat brickets and peat stack). After that we head directly into the neverending Finnish Lake District, but you never get bored with that blue-green landscape.

It might be interesting to make a few industrial visit during the raid. This day we will visit Honkarakenne, Finland's largest log house builder in Karstula. "Kahvi ja pulla" (coffee and bun) available free of charge there.

You may want to do some nature hiking at "Julmat lammit”, a natural sight with 3 km walking path in Saarijärvi.

Passing Suolahti yopu can see the factories ofVALTRA, the leading Scandinavian manufacturer of ultra-modern tractors.

The Aviation Museum of Central Finland shows Finnish aviation history from its beginning to the present days. By taking E75 direction Jyväskylä you can find this place at Tikkakoski.

Finland is known of its rally drivers. One of them -Tommi Mäkinen (four time world champion) - is keeping his "rally school" at Puuppola a little North of Jyväskylä. Maybe it is possible to visit the place, if you get in touch with them. Unfortunately they drive just Subarus.

If you want to extend your detour to Jyväskylä, you can also visit Panda licorice and chocolate factory (Vaajakoski). Finns are quite crazy about licorice and "salmiakki". You will see many products with these flavours included.

Better check all opening hours because it is Sunday, but many places should be open because of summer high season including grocery stores (usually 12-21 hours).

OVERNIGHT at "Puroniemi", Camp Centre of Orthodox Youth Association which is privately rented for us. There is a main building with a meeting/dining room, kitchen and showers. Sauna is next to the lake. A limited number of indoor accommodation is available, too.

LOCATION: About 7 km North-west of Rautalampi center along road 543. If you come from the West along road 69, there is a shortcut about 10 km before Rautalampi. After crossing a beautiful bridge spot at "Kivisalmi", drive on about 8 km and turn left to a very small road "Karhumäki". When you come ton the crossing of "543" turn left and immediately (200 m) left again following the small sign "Puroniemi ONL:n leirialue". There may be a Citroen sign in the crossings, too.

There are many alternative routes. The map below shows the route via "Karstula" because of the factory visit, but maybe you want to drive also down to Jyväskylä area etc. The final daily route choice is up to you.
